"Where There's Help There's A Way" The FNB Dog Spot

FNB Dog is the latest brand commercial for FNB(First National Bank). The commercial tells the story of a man who goes out of his way to help find the owner of dog that he found. This shares the philosophy of how help is entrenched in the core belief system of FNB and that great things can happen when people help eachother. Where there's help, there's a way. Truly an emotionally uplifting short movie, I mean commercial, great stuff.
The ad was directed by Greg Gray.

Gio Compario for Gocompare.com Stone Age Advert

Opera singer Gio Compario rocks out in the Stone Age in the latest ad for Gocompare.com. The ad, which airs on Monday (26 September), shows Compario flown into the Stone Age by a flying reptile. Aiming to draw on comparisons with the Raquel Welch film, ‘One Million Years BC’, the ad features two young attractive cave women who have just invented the wheel.

The ad continues to use Compario’s famous ‘Go compare’ song with a rock twist. It was created by Yellow Boat Music and features American drummer Shay Godwin and lead guitarist Jan Cyrka.
The campaign was created by Gocompare.com’s in-house marketing team. The creative concept was developed by Siân and Chris Wilkins, and Groundglass was the production company.
Nick Hall, head of marketing at Gocompare.com, said: "This advert takes ‘rock opera’ to a whole new level. We think viewers are going to love it. The CGI characters and backgrounds are fantastic and every time you watch it, you see more of the detail.
"The rocked-up version of the Gocompare song is our favourite so far and it will definitely wake people up in the ad breaks. Move over Queens of the Stone Age – the King of the Stone Age is here and his name is Gio Compario."

GE Capital and Polaris TV Spot

In a collaborative showcase between their top-flight color-grading and VFX departments, full-service post studio Nice Shoes just finished work on the latest stunning spot for GE Capital's ongoing co-branding campaign, this time spotlighting the company's relationship with Polaris.

Polaris opens on a panoramic shot of a stunning, jagged-edged dunescape. A Polaris dune buggy streaks across the screen, tossing a trail of sand behind and adding a flash of red color to the brown-and-tan-hued land. A voiceover extols the merits of GE Capital's intensive client relationship with Polaris before the spot ends with the occupants leaping from the buggy and dancing joyously across the sand.

The naturally beautiful color palette, the epic landscape, the contrasting shades, and the sand trail stirred up by the dune buggy called for special cooperation between Nice Shoes' powerful color-grading and VFX units. "More than anything, the finished product shows how well Nice Shoes' various departments unite," noted Nice Shoes Colorist Ron Sudul. "Plus we have done so many of these spots now for GE that we are particularly tuned in to their desired look and style."

Nice Shoes took the 35MM footage, scanned it in at 2K, and color corrected in Baselight to capture the unique tint of light reflecting on sand. The VFX department contributed with Autodesk Flame, taking advantage of its ability to composite within a 3D workspace.

The crew faced myriad challenges, from trying to reproduce accurate looking sand to maintaining the integrity of the pristine desert scenery. Nice Shoes enhanced the natural lines and shading in the sand dunes to really bring out the contrasts and contours. In nearly every shot, the VFX crew then removed tracks from the dune buggy and the film crew and recreated clean sand to fill the space.

"We had a very short turnaround for this project, so it was important that each group cooperated with the other," noted Nice Shoes VFX Artist Jason Farber. "Luckily we have a long history of collaborating not only internally, but also with the agencies and production companies we work with, so we were able to come together and turn out a beautiful final spot."

Travelers Insurance - Drifters (New Floating Umbrella Commercial)

Travelers new TV spot, featuring the music of Langhorne Slim, "Worries", shows red umbrellas drifting through the countryside and city scapes before coming together to protect the things that people care about most.
In the latest spot in the celebrated Travelers Insurance campaign, joining Rupert Sanders' Emmy nominated "Delivery" and Daniel Kleinman's charming bone-obsessed dog in "Prized Possession," comes "Drifters." Directed by Frank Budgen, the story unfolds in the skies above America, as we see thousands of small red umbrellas elegantly floating above. As we hear "Worries" from the incomparable folk star Langhorne Slim, we watch as the hypnotic flotilla moves from the ocean, over the countryside and, finally, into the skyscraper-filled canyons of a city where they gently drift down to protect a home, a car and a business.

Allan Gray Investments James Dean "Legend" Advert

Allan Gray Investments uses the legend of James Dean in their newest advertising campaign. I don't get the connection, but the ad agency King James had this to say about the commercial:
Allan Gray surmises how much more could have been achieved by the Legend had James Dean had more time.
In all my years of advertising, I have never seen a treatment that was so detailed, so carefully thought through, and so deeply researched, than the treatment Keith gave us when pitching to handle this commercial. From beginning to end, his commitment to the job bordered on obsession." says Alistair King, Executive Creative Director at King James.
"This was an incredibly challenging board, says Rose. You just take it for granted that James Dean is so iconic, so to go and mess with him and replan his life, if it doesnt work its like youre desecrating his memory."
We really needed to deal with it with sensitivity. According to Karin Barry-McCormack and Paige Nick, the creative team from King James; "For both of us, this was without a doubt the most exciting, challenging and intricate television project we have ever worked on. And it was amazing to work so closely with such a passionate team and such a collaborative client."
