Burger King BK Ad "The Kings Gone Crazy"

The newest ad for Burger King featuring the BK King going a little crazy seems to have upset the National Alliance on Mental Illness. Michael Fitzpatrick, executive director for Arlington, VA's National Alliance on Mental Illness, was quoted in the Washington Post saying spot is "blatantly offensive", adding, "I was stunned. Absolutely stunned and appalled."
Burger Kings response: "The creative concepts used to bring this to life were meant to highlight the King's unchecked enthusiasm about giving his guests a Steakhouse-quality sandwich at a great price and were not intended to reflect any group or situation." I just liked the ad and found nothing offensive about it.

Fox and Burger King Team Up for Jessica Simpson Fat Joke Commercial With The Dallas Cowboys

As part of the pre-game show on "Fox NFL Sunday", this animated commercial, presented by Burger King was aired of a tasteless animated skit featuring the Dallas Cowboys. The spoof poked fun at Jessica Simpson, her weight and Tony Romo by the cast of characters made up of Jason Whitten, Marion Barber and coach Wade Phillips. Yes, it is real!
Here is the shaky version of the video.

At NBCDFW.com, the NBC affiliate for the Dallas-Fort Worth area, locals voting on the spot were 45% furious, 27% bored, 18% laughing and 9% thrilled at press time.
Burger King had nothing to do with the ad, but their name was there clear as day at the beginning of the spot, Fox wrote, produced and aired the bit nationally. Burger King spokeswoman Katie Boylan confirmed that the chain sponsored the skit, but Fox created it.

The BK Whopper Sacrifice

The BK Whopper Sacrifice, a new Facebook app from Burger King and their friends, is simply a coupon delivery tool for a free Whopper. In typical Crispin Porter + Bogusky (advertising agency who created the campaign) style, they hit a nerve. This nerve, is the one pinched by Facebook users you don't know, but who want to be your friend.
"Friendship is strong, but a BK Whopper is Stronger".
The idea of the Whopper Sacrifice: Use this application and be rewarded with a free flame-broiled Whopper when you sacrifice 10 of your facebook friends. To date 390, 333 friends have been giving up and the total is rising fast.

Brian Morrissey of Adweek writes,

The notion of dumping friends in exchange for a burger could offend some, though Crispin has not shied from controversy with BK. Jeff Benjamin, executive interactive creative director, said the agency and client were careful to make the application lighthearted rather than "vindictive."

"The [friend] removal is another kind of socializing," he said. "At first you think it's antisocial, but it's a social device. Now we finally have something to talk about."

Burger King introduces the Angry Whopper with this new commercial featuring an onion farmer with a twist, this farmer is angry; angry with onions. An ordinary onion is raised on anger just for the BK Angry Whopper. Isn't the world angry enough without angry farmers now too?

The Whopper Virgins by Burger King Challenges McDonalds with Viral Ads

Burger King's "The Whopper Virgins" advertising campaign challenges McDonalds.
The agency Crispin Porter & Bogusky, used popular documentary filmmaker Stacy Peralta to create these new commercials and viral ads. They sent a research team to villages in Thailand, Greenland and Romania and used the old Coke or Pepsi style of taste testing challenge to ask people who have never tasted a burger to compare the Whopper with McDonald's Big Mac; promoting the Whopper as "the world's purest taste test". What has advertising become? The response to the Burger King Whopper Virgins campaign has been tremendous online; I'm still not sure what to make of this.

New Burger King "Make Out Point" Commercial 2008

Newest commercial for Burger King BK called "Make Out Point" for the New Cheesy Bacon Tendercrisp burger. Simple idea for this great ad and wow does it work. I'm not sure if the steer in the commercial is the guys lover and it is just really upset that he is eating chicken or what. At any rate, I loved this Burger King commercial and I just might have to go and try the new cheesy bacon tendercrisp tonight.
