Windows 8 is coming soon, 10.26.1012 to be exact and with that is a great new ad for the latest edition of Microsoft Windows. The "Reimagined" commercial features the song "I Really Want You" and starts off with a blazing 10, 9, 8, 8, 8, count down to an explosively good commercial, no comment on the OS itself.

In advance of one of the most significant waves of product launches in Microsoft’s history, today they unveil a new logo.

It’s been 25 years since we’ve updated the Microsoft logo and now is the perfect time for a change. This is an incredibly exciting year for Microsoft as we prepare to release new versions of nearly all of our products. From Windows 8 to Windows Phone 8 to Xbox services to the next version of Office, you will see a common look and feel across these products providing a familiar and seamless experience on PCs, phones, tablets and TVs. This wave of new releases is not only a reimagining of our most popular products, but also represents a new era for Microsoft, so our logo should evolve to visually accentuate this new beginning. via Microsoft's Blog

Microsoft Surface Video A Viral Success

A tablet that's a unique expression of entertainment and creativity.
A tablet that works and plays the way you want.
A new type of computing. Surface....

Surface, Microsoft's first promo video created by 22 year old Caleb Slain, a relative unknown in the ad world, might just have Microsoft snubbing their major ad agency partners: Crispin Porter & Bogusky, Deutsch or Razorfish, again in the future after the success of the video (6 million+ views to date).

Caleb Slain said, "I've had no direct contact within the agencies at all, ours was originally supposed to be a product showcase by myself and Keith Rivers." Rivers produced the video.

"We just wanted to make the most awesome, badass video possible, so that when we gave it back to Microsoft they would either love it or we would never work for them again."

Not bad for a video that was originally created just to show people in the trade how the product looks.

Microsoft Launches First Ever Multi-Product Christmas Advertising Campaign

MICROSOFT UNVEILS FIRST EVER MULTI-PRODUCT CHRISTMAS CAMPAIGN
18 October 2011: Last night Microsoft launched its first ever global, multi-product advertising campaign designed to showcase the unique everyday experiences that can be realised through its latest products and services. With an investment of over £5.5 million, it encompasses Windows, Windows Phone, Xbox for Kinect and Office to demonstrate an interconnected family scenario. The first in a series of 30-second TV ads aired at 20:15 during The Gadget Show on Channel Five and will run until the end of January.

The campaign, led by US ad agency Crispin Porter + Bogusky, includes activity across TV, digital and search and will roll out globally across 35 countries including UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.

Over the last year Microsoft has launched some of the industry’s most innovative and compelling products, such as Windows Phone and Kinect. These, combined with Windows and Office, provide a unique experience for the consumer. The campaign showcases the interconnected story through visual and relatable moments in everyday life for families around the world. It will provide a deeper understanding of how the products work together and inspire audiences to stay connected this Christmas.

The inaugural advert shows a family witnessing some embarrassing ‘dad dancing’ to Dance Central 2 on Xbox 360 Kinect which is unknowingly captured on his daughter’s Windows Phone. She shares the footage with her brother who edits and remixes it in Windows Live Movie Maker on his Windows PC, before uploading it to SkyDrive – where it is beamed to friends and family around the world. The living-room scenario showcases the connectivity of Microsoft’s suite of products and their integration on consumers’ everyday lives.

Paul Davies, Director of Marketing Communications at Microsoft UK commented: “In the run up to the festive season our thoughts turn to keeping in touch with loved ones. The great technology from Microsoft enables people to do this in new and exciting ways. Our latest campaign demonstrates just some of the things that that families can do using Windows PCs, Windows Phones, Kinect for Xbox, and Office to communicate with each other. Not only is it simple and easy, but the technology can enable them to stay connected, often in entertaining and surprising ways.”

Windows Phone 7 TV Ad "Bathroom Really"

The funniest in the series of TV spots for Microsoft's "Really" ad campaign, "Bathroom Really" takes our obsession for smartphones to an awkward and disturbing place - the male urinal.

"7 Steps to Windows 7" With Symantec

At Great Ads we are all about showcasing the best in advertising and this clever spot for Symantec is no exception, besides I'm sucker for a handsome cowboy. The ad takes a humorous approach to discussing the complex challenge of businesses both large and small migrating Windows 7.
Check out the Symantec website for info on their Windows 7 migration service HERE

Oh but there's more, my first reader who can tell me what the license plate reads in the ad I posted on Monday, April 30, 2007 will get a free copy of the Symantec Backup Exec System Recovery (BESR) as a token of our appreciation for being a loyal reader of Great-Ads. Apple I'm A Mac I'm A PC "Broken Promises" Ad Hits on Windows 7

With the release of Windows 7, we knew Apple had to be ready with their latest ad in the Apple I'm A Mac, I'm A PC campaign titled "Broken Promises".
This one was just too easy for Apple and the TBWA/Media Arts Lab to take advantage of Microsoft's history when it comes to operating systems, have to love the look back on previous Windows releases with our beloved I'm a PC.
Other spots in the campaign include: Apples PC breaking news, where Mac hopes to take advantage of all the changes expected with upgrading to Windows 7.

Good News Windows 7 Commercial

The star of the new Windows 7 commercial is Kylie, who seems to have become Microsoft's poster child for Windows. She first appeared in a Windows commercial earlier this year, plugging the Windows Live Photo Gallery, now Kylie takes all the happy words about Windows 7 and makes them happier in her very own slide show.
Windows 7 spot by ad agency Crispin Porter & Bogusky titled "Good News," is hoping to gain third-party credibility with positive reviews by outlets such as CNET, Gizmodo, Maximum PC and the Seattle Times.
Windows 7 much like Windows Vista will do nothing for me but the commercial is great, thanks to little Kylie, the reviews are meaningless Kylie does all the work in this commercial.

and the next Bing Commercial is..."Syndrome"

The second commercial release for the new Microsoft search engine "Bing", this commercial for Bing titled "Syndrome" claims that Bing is the Cure for Search Overload Syndrome. The next bunch of commercials, collectively titled "Syndrome" continue with the theme of "search overload" and try present the idea humorously, a big difference from the dramatic "Manifesto" spot that kicked off the estimated $100 million marketing campaign yesterday from WPP agency JWT.
Sorry Bing, the marketing campaign alone wont work, after using Bing I find my results are no different than those I get from Live, and we all know how good Live wasn't. Remember what I said yesterday Bing = But It's Not Google.

Microsofts First Bing Commercial "Manifesto"

Well here we go, the big $90 million ad campaign begins for "Bing" JWT, New York the agency of record for the Microsoft Bing campaign has actually left me feeling a little lost and confused after watching the Bing "Manifesto" commercial, I'm not a fan of Bing, do you guys really know what Bing means - "But It's Not Google".

Let's be serious, who are they trying fool they have been trying to catch up to Google search for years and well it just might be too late. The commercial on it's own is great just the wrong product.
You heard it here first:

Apple Get A Mac Mac VS PC "Bean Counter" Commercial

New Mac VS PC "Bean Counter" commercial.
Apple creates another funny commercial in the Mac VS PC advertising saga. The newest commercial release titled "Bean Counter" takes a good shot at Vista. Our favorite PC is sitting back adding more money to be spent on Vista advertising and very little to fixing all the problems with Vista. Of course, with the suggestion by Mac, PC decides to spend all the money on advertising and leave Vista just the way it is. It is a funny commercial.

Microsoft Windows "I'm A PC" Life Without Walls Commercial

Microsoft, Windows "I'm A PC" "Life Without Walls" commercial - September 2008.
Now that Bill Gates has left the helm at Microsoft he has more time to become a TV star. The newest of the Microsoft, Windows advertising campaigns is the commercial "I'm A PC" Life Without Walls.
Not all PC users look like John Hodgman. It's easy to spot Deepak Chopra and Bill Gates making their claim to being a PC, but I think I also saw Tony Parker and Eva Longoria too.

Here is the 15 second spot I'm A PC and I Wear A Suit
Are You A PC? Get Into It

After a series of teaser ads, Microsoft is beginning in earnest an ad campaign to repair its image, including a spot with a diver in a shark cage.
One new Microsoft commercial even begins with a company engineer who resembles John Hodgman, the comedian portraying the loser PC character in the Apple campaign. "Hello, I’m a PC," the engineer says, echoing Mr. Hodgman’s recurring line, "and I’ve been made into a stereotype."

Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates Microsoft Windows Commercial Part 2 New Family

Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates meet again for part 2 of the Microsoft advertising campaign.
Windows Part 2 New Family commercial
Here we go with part 2 of the Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates Windows commercials. This commercial titled "Perpetually Connecting" The New Family is 4 minutes of Seinfeld and Gates and their new family, funny in a strange way but I like it. The ending is truly priceless...Gates doing techno dancing, you have to love that.

Windows Perpetually Connecting

Shoe Circus Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates Microsoft Commercial

Microsoft launched their advertising campaign that features Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates exchanging ideas on the "Future" of Microsoft. If you read many of the discussions about this commercial you'll know that many people don't like it. I am in the minority, I like it.First of all its not selling any product, the commercial does not mention Vista (so its not about Vista), but a new look of Microsoft's bright future. Notice the melody at the end, preceded with words FUTURE and DELICIOUS. Something aesthetically pleasing? Why Bill is at a discount shoe store. Why p-leather? Is Microsoft investing in cheaper affordable hardware? Shoppers at the window commenting the type of shoe and how it runs tight. Was Seinfeld worth the reported $10 million he earned for doing the ad, or the reported $300 million it cost, figures I doubt are very accurate.
The Microsoft "Shoe Circus" Commercial with Bill Gates & Jerry Seinfeld, sorry but I like it.

According to an article by Reuters, "Microsoft said the commercial is part of a broader, long-term initiative to change consumers' perception of Windows, which will include setting up a retail corner at several hundred Best Buy and Circuit City stores staffed by "Windows Gurus" to explain the benefits of Windows."
