The VW Volkswagen Beetle "Juiced Up"
THE 2012 VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE OFFERS THE SAME SMILE WITH SHARPER TEETH
The Volkswagen Beetle has been many things over the years. But whether playing the role of the friendly, utilitarian car of the people, or a smile-on-wheels with a flower vase by the steering wheel, it’s also always been a single-minded exercise in progressive, iconic design. The latest incarnation of the Beetle is no exception. Although lurking beneath a shell that harkens back to the original is a machine that’s dedicated to performance and driving enjoyment.
While a focus on performance is definitely a new direction for the Beetle, innovation has always been a hallmark of the car’s personality, so Volkswagen Canada and Toronto advertising agency, Red Urban, agreed that innovation must also inform the marketing effort to launch the Beetle in Canada. To this end, much of the Beetle out of home advertising in Toronto and Vancouver offers an enhanced experience, using augmented reality (AR), a technology that allows people to use mobile devices like iPhones and iPads to see animations on the advertising that are triggered by markers embedded in the ads themselves.
The AR animations can be seen on gigantic billboards in Toronto’s Dundas Square, as well as on transit shelters throughout Vancouver and Toronto. The animations themselves show the Beetle launching itself through billboards, jumping off of a massive ramp that appears to emerge from the side of a building, and smashing through transit shelters after racing through a long tunnel that appears to be built behind the shelter itself. All the animations serve to demonstrate that this is a much more aggressive, performance-oriented Beetle than any of its predecessors.
“Previous Beetles have been kind of cute and friendly, but this one has a lot more attitude, so we thought the advertising better live up to that,” notes Bruce Rosen, Director, Marketing and Communications of Volkswagen Canada. Steve Carli, President of Red Urban adds, “The car is a nod to the past and the future at the same time, so using the AR overlay on a very traditional out-of-home media buy really seemed like a solid conceptual fit.”
The out-of-home campaign runs from September 26 to October 30 in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal. In addition, an online digital campaign will run from October 26-November 26. The free app can be downloaded at vwjuicedup.ca, and people can experience the AR at home through the “Volkswagen Beetle. Juiced Up.” video on the Volkswagen Canada YouTube channel.

New Volkswagen Print Ad "The Ear" Makes A Strong Case For More Space
In this new disturbing yet effective print ad titled "The Ear", VW has demonstrated how a simple picture and a clever copy can conjure up common emotions in all of us. At first glance the stark advert catches you off guard as you wonder what the product is selling - q-tips perhaps. Aware of this curious nature in consumers, Swedish ad agency DDB Stockholm cleverly presented the copy in small simple font for the reader to discover. This little hard work pays off with the clever punchline that reads "Don't get to close to the family. The spacious new Touran."

Volkswagen Family Friendly Spots Are Unbeatable
With the overwhelming success of Volkswagen's 'The Force' Super Bowl ad, the German car company is continuing to target their key demographic with another family oriented TV spot. This latest ad titled 'Piñata' is set at a child's birthday party where the strength of the 2011 Tiguan is related through an unbreakable SUV shaped VW piñata. The result is a great metaphor for the European automakers brand and reputation for producing well built cars. Now that's Das Advertising.

And the 2011 Super Bowl Ad Biggest Winners Are... A Pug and A Kid?
According to Nielson Ratings Research the 2 most re-called Super Bowl XLV commercials for viewers were Doritos 'Pug Attack' and Budweiser 'Wild West'. And the most liked overall 2011 Super Bowl spots were Volkswagen's 'The Force' and 'Carma' by Bridgestone. The general consensus and it's wildly popularity on the web, appear to have chosen 'The Force' as the big winner at this years Super Bowl, however Neilson's research indicates it did not fare well in brand-recall for Volkswagen. That being said the overall view of this years Super Bowl spots was that they seemed a little weaker than previous Super Bowl's, as it was the rare occasion when the actual game was more memorable than the ads.

VW are releasing their Super Bowl XLV line up of TV spots at a rapid pace, as their recent release of the 2012 Passat Super Bowl Ad 'The Force' went viral as soon as it was leaked on YouTube. the German automakers aggressive marketing strategy appears to be working as people can't wait until Sunday to watch the big ads.

Newly released 2011 Super Bowl commercial from Volkswagen is expected to go viral immediately. The TV spot features a cute kid roaming around as Darth Vader, but not until he encounters the 2012 Passat, and a little help from his dad, does he feel the Force. Volkswagen Ad 'Old Lady' Takes You on a Joy Ride
VW Golf's funny new commercial takes the old adage of it being wise to buy used cars from seniors and turns it on its head. The clever Dutch ad features a couple of opportunistic car shoppers thinking they just bought a babied car off some sweet old lady. But buyer beware.

See It Love It CUPID Seat Ibiza Range Advert
Great new commercial for the new Seat Ibiza by Volkswagen. The dramatic new ads see SEAT put a typically irreverent spin on the classical legend of Cupid, with a winged archer flying above the stunning new SEAT Ibiza Cupra and targeting people as they see the car for the first time.
The heart-shaped arrows he fires cause everyone who sees the car to fall in love with it – a natural reaction, of course, that’s already happening in SEAT showrooms across the country.
The multi-million pound campaign, which also features 4,000 bus stop billboards nationwide as well as print ads in glossy lifestyle titles such as Empire, Q, Heat, Closer and Now, will run well into 2010 as SEAT looks to build on a record-breaking 12 months of new and used car sales.
The adverts were filmed over the course of five nights in the central business district of Johannesburg in South Africa and use the latest computer-generated imagery, plus super-slow motion cameras, to create the unique pictures we’ll see on our screens.
Fully exploiting the growing influence of digital social media, SEAT’s winged love warrior will be starting his own Facebook page while ‘viral’ videos of both the TV advert and an interview with its main character will be appearing on YouTube.
SEAT UK National Communications Manager Rob Taylor said: ‘The premise of this campaign is built around the obvious love for SEAT’s sexy new Ibiza models.
‘But, SEAT being SEAT, we knew we couldn’t go for the clichéd image of a Cupid-style persona. We wanted to develop a different type of character, an archer with real attitude and street cred who spreads the love for Ibiza in an inimitable way.’
The TV ads, which have been cleared to run after 7:30 pm by Clearcast, broke on terrestrial television, Sky and a variety of digital channels on Saturday.
