Racy CougarLife Billboard is Sure To Cause Some Trouble

This new billboard popped up on Sunset Boulevard today for CougarLife, we'll just back and enjoy the fallout from all the Mother F$%#kers.

via LAWeekly by
We're not sure what's scarier, the new billboard above Sunset Boulevard that declares "CougarLife.com for MOTHER F***ERS" or the fact that there is actually a site for such classy MILF-chasers and granny-philes.

Okay, they're not all grandmothers. The recommended starting age for a cougar-dating search on the site is 35.

Feel sleazy? Just wait, because CougarLife claims that ...the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, home of said tasteful billboard, is the epicenter of American cougardom.

Cindy Rocker, the site's "head of cougar relations" (really), claims the 90069 zip code (hair city USA) has the most cougars per capita of any other zip code.

It's like the Def Leppard groupies moved there in 1985 and never left, yeah?

Anyway, this is supposed to be about that startlingly shocking billboard. A publicist says it's "controversial" and that it's "turning heads."

Sure.

Who are these bottom-feeding, cougar-hungry people anyway? Oh yeah, men.

McDonald's Reflective Billboard Advertising

The idea: McDonald’s wanted to target people looking for a late night snack. So we made an ad that could only be seen at night. On a billboard, we wrote “open all night” in reflective tape. By day, the board appeared white, with no message visible at all. At night, car headlights hit the billboard, and revealed the message.

Chevy Sonic 3-D Interactive Projection Billboard

The world's largest 3-D interactive projection billboard was created to promote the Chevy Sonic on the Roosevelt Hotel in Las Vegas.

Hollywood Boulevard was taken over last week, where they re-created the giant-sized, 3D version of the old-school claw game in front of the famous Roosevelt Hotel. Passers-by were given a chance to use a human-sized joystick to direct the claw which was projected onto the side of a building and had a chance to win an array of prizes including a $4,000 vacation, a Burton snowboard, and one for lucky person, a 2012 Chevy Sonic.

The project was the work of Goodby Silverstein & Partners and Pearl Media. "With Pearl's innovative approach to experiential advertising and Sonic's willingness to try 'firsts,' we at Chevy wanted to take the partnership into groundbreaking territory. So we added the real-time experiential claw-game piece," said Kevin Mayer, Chevrolet's director-advertising and sales promotion. "Sonic is up for any challenge, and Pearl's Claw Game pushed the Sonic into a new gaming realm that combined old-school fun with cutting-edge technology."

The famous Roosevelt Hotel is no stranger to being used for 3-D projections, Lexus put a twist on traditional Earth Day activities when it brought Earth Night to Hollywood as part of the launch of the all new CT 200h. Lexus transformed The Roosevelt Hotel with a 3D projection featuring architectural light mapping technology. Using state-of-the-art projection, lighting, shadows and 3D animation, the imagery popped from the walls and windows of the hotel to animate the landmark.

Pearl also did one for the release of the X-Men film on the Roosevelt.

Smoking Billboard for OutBack SteakHouse Back Fires

A new billboard went up on Interstate 85 in Norcross, Ga. for the OutBack Steakhouse with the tag line "Wood Fire Grill. Good for steaks. Bad for Billboards." The billboard installation included smoke machines to create that fire grilled illusion, pretty cool your thinking, maybe but the 911 operators didn't expect all the calls they got from motorists reporting that the billboard was on fire.

"We are unveiling our new wood fire grill steaks and thought this would be a way to catch drivers attention," said spokesman Hassiba Braggs.

The company said it alerted the Gwinnett County Fire Rescue about the billboard, but according to fire officials, the word was not passed along before both police and fire trucks were dispatched to the area because of calls to 911.

It's All in the Art of the Tease in Clever New Billboard Campaign

An ingenious billboard ad campaign from the Netherlands demonstrates the power of suggestion in advertising, albeit a view that no one wants to see. The drawn out billboard campaign titled 'Males Stripper' features a simple caption reading "The sooner you advertise here, the better", which Dutch commuters patiently followed along with over several weeks. The clever "advertise here" ad campaign by Interbest Outdoors then actually thanked the new sponsors who took out the space, with the line "Phew! Thanks Radio 2",  ultimately saving us from the feared money shot that only existed in our minds.

MAD Magazine Proves They Are Clever as Ever with New Outdoor Ad

Since they were founded back in 1952, MAD magazine has been an influential satirical mainstay ever since. Creating some of the cleverest parodies of pop culture, no one was safe from their lampooning, particularly the advertising world.   In that same vain, their latest outdoor billboard ad campaign 'Light Bulb' targets both the original ad from The Economist and unsuspecting pedestrians who soon become part of the gag, once again proving why MAD's longevity and particular brand of humor maintains it's relevance in the 21st century.

Coors Light Billboard "Colder Than Most People From Toronto"

Molson Coors Canada decided to pull a B.C. billboard saying Coors Light is “colder than most people from Toronto,” after public complaints.

Ferg Devins, the brewer’s chief public affairs officer, said the company will pull about 30 billboards throughout B.C.

“We basically realize we’ve had a misfire here,” Mr. Devins said. “It was a local insight. The intention was kind of playing off an east-west rivalry, but we’re sorry because obviously we’ve offended some people.”

The ad was designed by the Toronto firm DraftFCB, which refused comment on Tuesday. The controversy erupted after Kathryn Gallagher Morton, a Newmarket woman who was upset after she and her son spotted the ad while on a camping trip in B.C., complained to a Toronto newspaper.

‘‘We actually saw the humour in it all,’’ Ms. Gallagher Morton said on Tuesday. “We just couldn’t believe that Coors thought they could acquire customers by insulting them!’’

On Tuesday, Twitter was flooded with hundreds of tweets from upset Torontonians, as well as hundreds more telling Torontonians to lighten up and not to take themselves so seriously.

Soon enough, Molson Coors Canada announced, via Twitter, that it decided to pull the ads, which are part of a Coors Light campaign that encourages people to complete the phrase “colder than...”

Adam Moffat, spokesman for Coors Light, said the campaign, in its 12th week, was scheduled to end in early September, so the beer company decided that they “just ought to pull it down now.”

McDonald's Four Bucks is Dumb Billboard

I'm Lovin' It, McDonald's finally gets exciting with their advertising. Billboards starting popping up around Seattle Washington the home of Starbucks for McDonald's, the billboards read "Four Bucks is Dumb" now serving espresso; other billboards read "Large is the New Grande". McDonald's released a statement calling the advertising campaign "a light-hearted, fun approach to our brand," aimed at promoting the company's McCafe coffee products. I'm sure Starbucks is not sharing in the same sentiments about the ad campaign.

"four bucks is dumb. now serving espresso"
McDonalds billboard four bucks is dumb advertising campaign takes on Starbucks Deb Trevino, director of global communications for Starbucks, responded to the McDonald's campaign by saying: "Comparative campaigns are all well and good but only when they're credible and authentic. If the claim is not supportable or the tone is off, you risk losing credibility."
Let the corporate bickering begin, I personally love the billboard it ads some excitement to the advertising world; let's hope Starbuck's comes back with a light hearted attack on McDonald's, they could be great considering the reputation of McD's food, do you really think they could make an espresso as good as Starbuck's?
