Pitbull Wallmart Sheets and Kodiak Alaska Make It Go Away

Mr. Worldwide, indeed: Pitbull will fly to Kodiak, Alaska, to visit the small island's Walmart store as part of a competition sponsored by the WalMart and Sheets by Listerine. The contest promised that the rapper would appear at whichever Walmart branch got the most likes on Facebook and, early on, it was hijacked by David Thorpe and Jon Hendren of the website Something Awful, who started a campaign to send Pitbull all the way to the Kodiak Walmart. As a result, the store's page netted over 71,000 likes, even though Kodiak's population is just over 6,000 according to the 2010 U.S. census.

Pitbull seems stoked, anyway. "I heard that Kodiak, Alaska, has the most likes due to someone who thinks he was playing a prank," the rapper said in the announcement video. "But you gotta understand, I'll go anywhere in the world for my fans." He even took the opportunity to extend an invitation to the pranksters. Nice work, Internet!

Walmart Does Not Want to Get "Stuck" Behind the Latest Ad Trends

Walmart along with The Martin agency have created a fun new TV spot as part of the retail giants clear intention to regain some of it's former successes. Simply titled 'Stuck', the cute commercial features an eclectic and strange shopping list, that in the end helps a kid get out of a tight situation. These family oriented ads have proven successful this year with popular spots like Volkswagen 'The Force' leading the trend. With that in mind Walmart have created the perfect advertisement to renew their low price styled mantra campaigns. Replacing the former 'Save Money, Live Better' the new spots slogan 'Low Prices. Every Day. On Everything', is a great start for a familiar direction.

Walmart Thanks Our Troops with the Christmas Wish Commercial

Beautiful new ad by Walmart supporting our troops this holiday season, titled the Anthem Christmas Wish.
Anonymous Content Director Andrew Douglas stirs up a moving tribute to U.S. troops for the 2009 holiday season. Anthem Christmas Wish, done for Walmart via Martin Agency, Virginia, stars a group of soldiers returning from an exhausting patrol in the torrid desert heat. As the heroes drop their helmets and packs to the ground, a miracle occurs - snowflakes drift down and soon cover the encampment, injecting the troops with an unmitigated joy. The scene then shifts to a little boy, presumably thousands of miles away, leaving the cozy confines of Santa's workshop. When his mother asks the boy what he wished for, he smiles and says, "Something for Dad."

To recreate arid atmospheres, Douglas shot the spot over a two-day period on Mystery Mesa in Santa Clarita, Calif. A pair of Marine captains and a retired Navy SEAL supervised the shoot to ensure that everything from the look of the uniforms to the handling of weapons reflected military standards and norms. Even the snow was authentic - Anonymous brought in 45 tons of ice, which was shredded and shot skyward to create real powder. Anonymous also created the jovial Christmas scene populated by the boy and his mother.

Walmart created the spot to say thank you to U.S. troops for their brave service. The spot debuted during Game 6 of the World Series, an enormous television event that guaranteed a large audience. Over the next two months, the :30 will run in theaters, online, and during some of the most popular programs on TV, including The Today Show, Good Morning America, and Sunday Night Football. The :60 version will be broadcast on the American Forces Network and Walmart's in-store network.
